William Pierce Koon started out in the hardware and watch repair business in the mid-1800's. He slowly phased in a line of pocket watches and wedding bands. When William became sick, his wife took over the shop-keeping and William worked on watches at night. Eventually, they phased out all of the hardware and extended the line of jewelry.

In 1974, Koon's Jewelry relocated to its current location - the building where Jimmy Koon was born. Jimmy and his wife, Adrie, continued the family business. The business, incorporated in 1979, has continued with the guidance of Jimmy and Adrie. Although today, they are considered 'retired,' they still come to the store every day. Mary Koon Wise, their daughter, now serves as president. Her children, Carrie Wise Owens and Michael Wise, also have major involvement in the business. Carrie is Secretary/Treasurer and Michael is the primary bench jeweler, handling most of the repairs. Jimmy still works on watches and does most of the custom work while Michael is responsible for sizing rings, retipping prongs, necklace repair and the like.

Koon's Jewelry has a laser welder which enables their repair department to provide state-of-the-art service. The laser allows for seam-free repairs.

Koons Jewelry sells yellow and white gold, platinum, and a little sterling silver jewelry (rings, necklaces and earrings). They also have diamond and colored stone rings, earrings and pendants along with watches (Seiko, Pulsar and Mallard) and a limited amount of gift ware.
